This is the submit that we made for the Pirate Software Game Jam 2024.
With the topic being ” It’s spreading ” we decided to develop a game that is about a roach reproducing among the universes. In this game, you are Roach, and you are part of a highly intelligent species of cockroaches that want to conquer the universe.
We made it in Godot, a game engine created in Argentina, my home country. We also used Asperite for the main pixel art of the game, as well as a coo participation with assets makers in Itch.io.
Kritta, the digital painting application also was used to create the art for the transitions, dropdown menus, etc.
The most relevant observation that I would make is the relevance of the responsibility of working with shared repositories. Using git and interacting in GitHub might seem easy but as you start to feel the pressure of the fact that in 15 days you have to end the game, loosing time with merge errors because somebody did something without notifying the others is not a privilege you can have if you want the most optimal result possible of the game.
I loved the experience and hope that one day we’ll have a small version of it to share publicly.
